October 8, 2013: Tigers 3 A's 0 (Tigers win series, 3-1)

Doug Fister, Jose Veras, Drew Smyly, Rick Porcello and Joaquin Benoit combined to do what Anibal Sanchez did alone the night before - keep the A's off the scoreboard. The back-to-back whitewashings eliminate the A's and send the Tigers to the ALCS. The Tigers drew first blood in the 4th inning with 3 straight singles, then a 2-run Victor Martinez homer in the 9th put 'em away for good.

The Tigers will await the winner of game 5 in the Orioles-Red Sox series.

The series MVP is Prince Fielder. Although Miguel Cabrera hit .533 in the series, he had just 2 RBI, both on solo homers. Fielder also had 2 HR, but had 7 RBI total, including the first (and deciding) run in game 4.
