October 19, 2013: Tigers 5 Red Sox 3 (ALCS tied, 3-3)

The Tigers stay alive and force a game 7 in the ALCS. The Tigers bats were alive early, with 3 singles in the 1st and two singles, a double, and a home run that led to 4 runs in the 2nd. Not surprisingly, the home run belongs to Miguel Cabrera, who now has 8 in the series. Austin Jackson added an insurance run with a solo shot in the 7th.

The Red Sox almost rallied, getting 2 runs in the 9th on a Mike Carp pinch hit HR, and loading the bases before Mike Napoli struck out to end the game. Napoli was 3 for 3 prior to that at bat.

It will be Jon Lester vs. Anibal Sanchez in the deciding game 7.

TEAM RISP- Tigers: 3 for 9 Red Sox: 2 for 9

Miguel Cabrera went deep and had 3 RBI as the Detroit Tigers defeated the
Boston Red Sox by the score of 5 to 3 at Fenway Park.

Detroit tallied 4 runs in the top of the 2nd inning with the help of 4 hits.
That early run support was all that Justin Verlander(2-0) required. Boston
had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

Joaquin Benoit earned the save, his 3rd. John Lackey(0-1) took the loss. He
pitched 5 innings allowing 7 hits and 2 walks. 'He gutted it out' Jim Leyland
said of Verlander. 'I was very impressed by his tenacity.'
